COURT SUPPORT THURSDAY MAY 14 at 8:30 am
Greetings,
The first of Mike Ramsey’s very public opposition to medical cannabis collectives and providers has resulted in the charging of three patient providers with up to six felonies each for providing medicine to law enforcement officers posing as patients with valid recommendations to use cannabis. This outlandish witch hunt MUST BE STOPPED. We hope that concerned patients, providers, and community leaders will come out in show of support for these upstanding members of the medical cannabis community. Join us in sending a clear message that this community is united and that we will not sit by and allow the court to waste resources and energy to enforce their ideological war against medical cannabis and their disagreement with the laws of the State of California.
This landmark case will hope to set precedent and put DA’s and law enforcement who insist on interpreting State law to fit their needs on notice that patients and providers will stand up for their rights. We will also be kicking off a petition campaign to recall Mike Ramsey for his unethical and immoral actions against the citizens of Butte County. More info on that effort to come very soon. We ask that you spread the word to local patient groups and activist who can come to court to support. We ask that all persons coming for support be on their best behavior and dress nicely. We look forward to a great response that will put the prosecutors on their heels and hopefully make them think twice about filing more charges, as they are threatening. We believe a strong showing from the community will hep set the tone for this case and any more that may be in the works. It is clear that Ramsey’s office is attempting to abuse their power in this clear case of vindictive prosecution after the medical cannabis community handed them a resounding defeat by blocking the restrictive cultivation ordinance that he personally championed. Let us continue the fight and show a strong level of support for those now in harm’s way.
